I move the gear shifter from park to reverse to drive, and back and forth. This is the sound of the driver manipulating the stick, not the car's transmission changing gears. You can hear the vehicle idling softly.

I recorded myself starting up my old 2001 mustang that we rarely drive. Something i did every day and never thought about. I bought this car while still living in my old church hill neighborhood. I can still see it park out front of that old house. . . .

The entrance / exit of this parking garage is a slope, so drivers have to drive hard against it in order to reach the street level. Recorded with schoeps cmc6 mk41 into sound devices 633.

A short ride in my shitty toyota yaris. Rolling from before i get in, until i get out. Recorded with a sound devices 744 and a beyerdynamic mce 82 stereo microphone riding shotgun.

Short recording of a car (specifically an suv, but could easily work for a sedan or light truck) driving in from a distance and parking. It idles briefly, and then turns off the engine. Also some light suburban neighborhood ambience (light wind, subtle traffic in the distance). Recorded with a sennheiser mkh-416 into a zoom f4 at 48khz, 24-bit.

The sound of me walking to my electric car in an underground parking lot, getting in, selecting "drive" and moving away. The stereo microphone was outside the vehicle, 10 metres away. This was recorded in-person with a tascam dr-40 stereo recorder in an underground parking lot. Public domain: i have released this audio file into the public domain. This sound was made by me, i tied down my canon powershot a460 digital camera inside the engine bay of my 1993 rover 620si, and it's got a petrol honda engine, no turbo on this version. I had my video recording on my camera in the engine bay while i was driving. I started the engine up and took it for a drive. I simply took the sound off the video. Cars can be heard driving by, along with a faint humming with from some machinery and a small amount of wind. There is also some faint talking, laughing and coughs from a group in one of the apartment buildings, which can add to the effect. Sound from inside the car, someone comes and starts driving, drives a little, open the windows, start the alarm alert of the gasoline finishing, go to the gas station and then goes to the garage to park it off and closed.

Recorded using an iphone 3g voice recorder sitting in the center of the plaza at la cruz de huanacaxtle in nayarit mexico. Tropical birds in a tree to the left, a person to the right fiddles with their bag, then near the end a single small car drives around the block. About 1 minute in duration.
